General Overview

This page provides a high-level summary of our data and confidentiality practices at Sprint Technologies Software. It is not intended as legal advice or an exhaustive legal contract. Given the complex nature of scientific, medical, industrial, and public-sector compliance, we recommend that clients consult with their own legal counsel.

We work across both software and hardware. Our engagements often involve designing and manufacturing physical hardware — including PCB design, metal and plastic fabrication, and the development of working MVP prototypes — alongside the software that runs on them. Because of this, the information entrusted to us frequently includes not only personal data but also sensitive technical material such as designs, schematics, and specifications. This policy explains how we safeguard all of it throughout our engagement and across our digital and physical operations.

Who This Policy Applies To

This policy is written for everyone who works with us, whether you are:

An individual — an inventor, researcher, engineer, or founder bringing us an idea, a design, or a prototype; and
An organisation — including private companies, research institutions, and state-owned companies, government departments, and other public bodies.

Where the person we deal with is acting on behalf of an organisation, references to "you" mean both that organisation and, where relevant, the individuals we interact with on its behalf.

The Information We Handle

Depending on the nature of your project, we may handle:

Contact and account information — names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical and delivery addresses, and organisation details.
Project and technical information — design files, CAD models, PCB layouts, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), firmware and source code, prototype specifications, test data, and related documentation.
Intellectual property and confidential material — inventions, know-how, trade secrets, and any proprietary information you disclose to us so that we can do the work.
Commercial information — quotes, purchase orders, invoices, and (for public-sector clients) tender and procurement reference details.
Website and communications data — messages you send us, newsletter subscriptions, and standard website analytics.

We only ask for what we need to design, build, and deliver your project.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information above to provide our services: to prepare quotes, design and manufacture hardware, develop software, produce and ship prototypes, communicate with you about your project, meet our legal and tax obligations, and — where you have opted in — send you updates. We do not sell your information, and we do not use your project data or designs for any purpose other than delivering your project, unless you give us permission or the law requires it.

Intellectual Property and Confidentiality

We understand how much expertise, effort, and care go into every project, and we treat your intellectual property as if it were our own.

Your IP stays yours. The designs, code, know-how, and ideas you bring to us — and, subject to your engagement terms, the work we produce for you — remain your property.
We keep it confidential. Project material is shared internally only with the team members who need it to do the work, and is protected by the same security controls described below.
We formalise it on request. We are happy to enter into a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) or to work under the confidentiality and IP terms your organisation requires before any sensitive material changes hands.
We safeguard it at every stage — from first conversation, through design and prototyping, to final delivery and secure hand-back or disposal of materials.

Security and Compliance

We specialise in high-stakes scientific, medical, industrial, and public-sector work. We strictly adhere to the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) in South Africa and support HIPAA-aligned workflows for medical data — while noting that ultimate HIPAA responsibility remains with the covered entity.

To maintain integrity across both our digital systems and our physical prototyping operations, we rely on:

Encryption of data at rest and in transit;
Role-based access management, so only authorised team members can access project material;
Secure handling, storage, and disposal of physical prototypes, boards, and materials;
Cloud-provider compliance, regular penetration testing, and audits.

d ISO 27001 aligned. Our role is to act as a secure extension of your team, providing the technical foundation needed for highly sensitive operations.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We never share project data with third parties unless it is legally required, or genuinely necessary to deliver your service. Where a project requires it, we may share limited, need-to-know information with trusted partners such as component suppliers, specialist fabrication houses, and logistics or courier providers — for example, a delivery address to ship a prototype, or a manufacturing file to produce a part. We require these partners to protect your information and to use it only for the purpose we share it.

Your Rights

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or update it, to request its deletion, and to request a copy in a portable format. You may also object to certain processing and withdraw consent to marketing at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact our Information Officer using the details below.

Public Bodies and State-Owned Companies

We recognise that government departments, state-owned companies, and other public entities operate under additional obligations. When we work with public-sector clients:

We handle information in a manner consistent with POPIA and with your own information-governance and records-management requirements;
We can support requests made under the Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) by cooperating with your designated officials;
We are willing to accommodate reasonable procurement, security-vetting, confidentiality, and record-keeping conditions that apply to your organisation.

If your entity has specific data-handling or security requirements as a condition of engagement, we welcome them in writing and will work to meet them.
